Course Details

This course is insanely cool!  Check it out:

The race starts on highway 325 just south of the entrance to Capulin Volcano National Monument.

The first segment is 1.3 miles of flat, curving, asphalt to the Visitors' Center at an elevation of about 7,000 feet.

The next segment is a 1000 foot climb over a 2.15 mile asphalt road which winds up the side of Mount Capulin and ends in the upper parking area.  Talk about a view!

The third segment is a 1 mile, circular, asphalt trail rising to a peak of 8,182 feet (400 feet above the upper parking area) and descending back down to the parking area.  This is tail draggin' time!

The fourth segment is the descent back down to 7,000 feet at the Visitors' Center.  Piece of cake!

The final segment is 6.5 miles through moderate hills on the asphalt of highway 325, ending at the Folsom School House.  Crawling is allowed - whining is not!

NOTE: The 10K starts and ends at the same points but skips the Volcano portion.

Restrooms and Aid Stations

There will be restrooms at the Folsom School House muster point, the Visitor Center muster point, and a bunch of trees along the way.

Water stations will be available along the course.

Volunteer EMS personnel will be on hand.
